چکیده

The characterization of prospective plants is one the critical issues in efficiency and success phytoremediation process. Due to adaption tolerance different environmental stresses, native plant species have priority this method. This study examined fifty five species, namely Launaea acanthodes, Artemisia sp., Cousinia congesta, Peganum harmala, Stipa growing near a smelter refinery Iran identify potential for phytoextraction phytostabilization. Therefore, Pb, Ni, Mn, Mo, S, Cu concentrations sampled soils were analyzed. Three pollution indices, metal accumulation index (MAI), translocation factor (TF), bioconcentration (BCF) used evaluating roots shoots each species. results indicated that with values 3.21, 1.09, 1.14 MAI, BCF, TF, respectively, appropriate area. Plants such as acanthodes congesta high BCF low TF showed Investigating indices elements demonstrated had value greater than 1 less 1; therefore, could be arsenic through phytostabilization technique. Furthermore, copper has very bioavailability these In addition, highly capable accumulating sulfur from soil because all inspected higher relevant was about 10. proposed applied practical applications remediation contaminated sites around factories mines southeastern Iran.

Phytoremediation Potential of Native Plants Growing on a Heavy Metals Contaminated Soil of Copper mine in Iran

A research project dealing with the phytoremediation of a soil polluted by some heavy metals is currently running. The case study is represented by a mining area in Hamedan province in the central west part of Iran. The potential of phytoextraction and phytostabilization of plants was evaluated considering the concentration of heavy metals in the plant tissues and also the bioconcentration fact...

Phytoremediation potential of wild plants growing on soil contaminated with heavy metals.

Phytoremediation is an emerging technology that employs higher plants to cleanup contaminated environments, including metal-polluted soils. Because it produces a biomass rich in extracted toxic metals, further treatment of this biomass is necessary. The aim of our study was to assess the five-year potential of the following native wild plants to produce biomass and remove heavy metals from a po...

Optimizing phytoremediation of heavy metal-contaminated soil by exploiting plants' stress adaptation.

Soil phytoextraction is based on the ability of plants to extract contaminants from the soil. For less bioavailable metals, such as Pb, a chelator is added to the soil to mobilize the metal. The effect can be significant and in certain species, heavy metal accumulation can rapidly increase 10-fold. Accumulation of high levels of toxic metals may result in irreversible damage to the plant. Monit...

Role of soil microbes in the rhizospheres of plants growing on trace metal contaminated soils in phytoremediation.

This article reviews recent developments in in situ bioremediation of trace metal contaminated soils, with particular reference to the microbial dynamics in the rhizospheres of plants growing on such soils and their significance in phytoremediation. In non-agricultural conditions, the natural role of plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR), P-solubilizing bacteria, mycorrhizal-helping bacte...

Introduction of Hyperaccumulator Plants with Phytoremediation Potential of a Lead- Zinc Mine in Iran

Contamination of heavy metals represents one of the most pressing threats to water and soil resources as well as human health. Phytoremediation can be potentially used to remediate metalcontaminated sites. A major step towards the development of phytoremediation of heavy metal impacted soils is the discovery of the heavy metal hyperaccumulation in plants. In this study, the several established ...
